Buda
Formerly named French Grove. Although there were early settlers of French extraction, there are no records of land purchases.
On the north side of Buda on Route 40 sits the expansive Bunker Hill Church, serving parishioners from southwest Bureau County and beyond. A vital part of the area, Bunker Hill is a shining example of what can be done with small town participation-it even has its own gymnasium!
With a Buda address but lying between Wyanet and Buda is Grubbsteaks, suppliers of buffalo meat for Buffalo Days in LaMoille. The kids will get excited (maybe some adults, too!) because the herd can be viewed from the fence near the road. Have some buffalo burgers in LaMoille, then head to the farm and buy some to take home (other cuts available, too). Don and Arkie will be happy to answer your questions.
Just a little way south of Grubbsteaks lies Tiskilwa Farms. Home to a sizable alpaca herd, here is another family stop everyone will enjoy. Chad will be on hand to answer questions and relate interesting facts about the different kinds of animals to be seen (there are more than just alpacas). If you have a larger group, call ahead to reserve a time and date.
